In August 2001, Rod,Myself, Charlie and Duncan departed Cairns and flew to Darwin for the start of a 17 day adventure around Indonesia.
We flew in Rod's Piper Navajo .
The purpose of this trip was to participate in a "fly in" for the opening of a new airfield in the north eastern corner of Bali and also to explore other places around Indonesia.

Flying around Indonesia
Flying around Indonesia is at times difficult for a small private aircraft.
Luckily with the help of the organisers of the Buleleng Fly-in we were given clearance to land at all the airports around Indonesia that we wanted to visit.
It was difficult to source av gas due to the lack of contacts in each region before we arrived. Eventually after Rod spent dozens of hours on the phone, fax and email, the trip was organised .
We found airport personnel surprised to see a private aircraft, but in the end they were extremely helpful and fuel was available where it had been organised.
